TRAINWRECK’s ‘Transcontinental Railroad’ Tour Chugs Across U.S. This Fall!

August 9, 2010

Southern-fried ‘Wreck And Roll’ From Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass And Members Of The D’s Band Tastes Just As Delicious In The Dining Car

Trainwreck (www.trainwreckwithkg.com), fronted by Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass and “Lee of the D” announced today that they embark on a 20-date aptly named “Transcontinental Railroad” tour across the country and back again. They will be busting ear fannies and melting faces officially in the name of Wreck N Roll. They hit the road in support of their debut album The Wreckoning, released earlier this year.

Kyle Gass (aka Klip Calhoun) has described Trainwreck at various times as “Molly Hatchett meets Jethro Tull meets The Runaways,” “Scoobie Doo meets CSI” and “…a cornucopia of rock and a 5-headed hydra of pleasure.” The band’s classic/prog/Southern boogie yeehaw freakshow will head out on tour beginning at Dipiazza’s in Long Beach, CA.  After a couple of weeks of rest from that brain-frying gig, they will cut a swath a mile wide from smoggy Southern California to the Eastern Seaboard. From there, it’s onto the Midwest, the Rocky Mountains and back to the West Coast.

Confirmed tour dates are:
9/04 @ Dipiazza Restaurant, Long Beach, CA
9/15 @ Showcase Live!, Foxborough, MA
9/16 @ Mercury Lounge, New York, NY
9/17 @ Mohawk Place, Buffalo, NY
9/18 @ Jillian’s of Albany, Albany, NY
9/20 @ Bourbon Street, Baltimore, MD
9/21 @ Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn, NY
9/23 @ Frankie’s, Toledo, OH
9/25 @ Beat Kitchen, Chicago, IL
9/27 @ 400 Bar, Minneapolis, MN
9/28 @ Nutty’s North, Sioux Falls, SD
9/30 @ Cervantes’, Denver, CO
10/1 @ Hodi’s Half Note, Fort Collins, CO
10/2 @ Triple Nickel Tavern, Colorado Springs, CO
10/4 @ Belly Up Aspen, Aspen, CO
10/5 @ Urban Lounge, Salt Lake City, UT
10/6 @ Tonic Bar, Reno, NV
10/8 @ Red Fox Tavern, Eureka, CA
10/9 @ The New Parish, Oakland, CA
10/10 @ Fishlips Bar & Grill, Bakersfield, CA

This is the band’s third tour of the United States this year in support of The Wreckoning, their 15-song opus featuring instant classics such as “Milk The Cobra,” “Bothered & Hot” and “El Mustachio”. All tracks highlight the band’s par-tay credo. Gass warns, “Prepare yourself. Trainwreck is coming to your town. Lock up your daughters, don’t tell your mothers. It’s going to be a fandango.” You don’t even want to know about the van, after securing a Hot Sauce deal earlier this year with flavors for each band member.

Trainwreck’s absurdist comedy stage banter and lyrics are derived from characters they’ve developed within the band; essentially living caricatures of themselves. Never ones to shy away from big guitars (or occasional flute fugues and fantasy), Trainwreck have earned themselves fans all over the globe headlining venues in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia. They have supported bands such as Reverend Horton Heat, Vida Blue (Page from Phish), Blues Traveler and have performed on The Jimmy Kimmel Show and Current TV.
