Ray Davies Of The Kinks Kicks Off A Nationwide Tour With Support From The 88

“Postcard From London” New Duet With Chrissie Hynde Available Everywhere Digital Music Is Sold

After performing to sold-out crowds in Fall 2009 to support his new album The Kinks Choral Collection, the iconic lead singer of The Kinks, Ray Davies returns to this side of the pond for a rare month-long tour with support from The 88. (See dates below). Feeding American audiences a hefty dose of Kinks hits including “You Really Got Me”, “All Day And All Of The Night” and “Waterloo Sunset”, Davies first will perform some of his solo work with Bill Shanley backing him on guitar followed by Davies being backed by The 88 to close out the night.

Always one to stay busy, Davies recently recorded a duet with the legendary Chrissie Hynde entitled “Postcard From London.” The single is currently being worked at AAA radio with early adds from KCRW (LA), WBJB (NJ), KPFT (Houston), KXCI (Tucson) and WHRV (Norfolk) to name a few.  “Postcard From London” is available now at all digital retailers including i-Tunes and Amazon. (Click link to view the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZbLHTmmPGY ).

The Kinks Choral Collection received rave reviews from fans and critics alike with Rolling Stone noting “(Davies) successfully collides rock and classical” and “remains in remarkable voice.” The New York Post simply called it “a great album” and the Los Angeles Times mused that Davies has “responded with renewed energy and ambition.” He also appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, Morning Joe on MSNBC, Taxi TV, NPR’s All Things Considered and his November 20th concert at New York City’s Town Hall was recorded for NPR’s All Songs Considered (click link here  http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=121757293).

Joining Davies is Los Angeles-based group The 88 (http://the88.net). Founded in Los Angeles in 2002, The 88 have released three albums – Kind of Light, Over and Over and Not Only…But Also, plus a digital collection This Must Be Love. The band is perhaps best known for their staggering number of music placements in film (Failure to Launch, You Me and Dupree), television (Grey’s Anatomy, How I Met Your Mother, Gossip Girl), advertising (Sears, Target) and games (Rock Band 2) as well as having written and performed the theme song for NBC’s hit comedy series Community.

Aside from extensive touring in North America, they have appeared on numerous national talk shows including Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, Jimmy Kimmel Live and Last Call With Carson Daly.

Recently, The 88 became the first band to record a track entirely on an iPhone. “Love Is The Thing” is a previously released song that was released only on iTunes; within 24 hours it became the band’s most downloaded song. USA Today, Kurt The Cyber Guy, the Los Angeles Times and countless blogs trumpeted The 88 and their innovative new way to record and distribute music entirely outside the mainstream music industry.
