The “showgirl” is the life’s blood of touring feature entertainment. The best of the best in the exotic showgirls arena are honored each year with the presentation of Exotic Dancer’s Overall Entertainer of the Year Award at the Annual ED’s Awards in Las Vegas during the Gentlemen’s Club Expo.

To enhance the prestige of this National Award and to insure that the most qualified applicants all have a shot at the title, ED Publications, producer of the EXPO, the Annual ED’s Awards and the bimonthly Club Bulletin magazine, is launching a new national contest series in 2014 — the Annual Exotic Dancer Invitational.

This feature dance contest will be held twice a year — once on the West Coast (EDI – West Coast) and once on the East Coast (EDI – East Coast) — with the winners of each contest filling two of the four nominee slots for the ED’s “Overall Feature Entertainer of the Year” Award.  (The official titles they will earn will be EDI’s 2014 Showgirl Champion-East Coast and EDI’s 2014 Showgirl Champion-West Coast.) There will also be a “newcomer” division, vying for the title EDI’s 2014 Showgirl Newcomer (East Coast and West Coast). These “Invitationals” will also provide the top showgirls with an additional asset: The opportunity to earn valuable contest titles from the industry’s trade publication to help enhance their feature entertainer careers. There will also be cash prizes for the top three finishers.

“The days of the magazine models are long gone, so the only real opportunity for ‘showgirls’ to build their credits as feature entertainers is through high-end and selective dance contests,” says ED Publications’ Associate Publisher, Dave Manack. “Our company is going to bring the same standards of professionalism that we bring each year to our Annual Expo and Awards Show to these Exotic Dancer Invitationals. And, as indicated by the word ‘Invitational,’ we will only be inviting the best of the best to compete for the main and mini titles. Ultimately, through these contests, we will be telling club owners which showgirls are the ones they want to book in their clubs.”

There is no fee for the contestants to participate, and contestants will receive complimentary hotel accommodations. Target dates for the 2014 Exotic Dancer Invitationals are March 2014 to late May (host clubs TBA).

2013 ED’s Award Show Host ADAM HUNTER

It’s been dubbed as the “Oscars” of the adult nightclub industry, the crowning event of the Annual Gentlemen’s Club Owners Expo and an evening worthy of celebration. The Annual Adult Nightclub & Exotic Dancer Awards Show — known more frequently as the ED’s Awards — will return for its 16th straight year at the 2013 Expo at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. This year, the House of Blues, located directly inside Mandalay Bay and boasting a national reputation as one of the nation’s best live music venues, will play host to the show.

The Annual ED’s Awards Show, presented by Anheuser-Busch and slated for August 21 from 8-11 p.m., will honor the best-of-the-best in adult nightclubs, club staff and feature entertainment. The show will be hosted by hot up-and-coming comedian Adam Hunter, will feature special guest presenters, a brand new all-female “house” rock band Brazen and command performances by the four nominees for ED’s Overall Entertainer of the Year Award, which include Christina Aguchi, Dakota Skye, Krystle Cummings and Lacey Rain.

“To have such a great venue as the House of Blues play host to this prestigious celebration of our industry is something we’ve very excited about,” says ED Publications’ Associate Publisher Dave Manack.  “And with our ‘Rock the House’ theme, we’re expecting all of our awards show guest to get in the spirit of the evening by unleashing their inner rock god or goddess!”

In keeping with this theme, several “rock star” special presenters are slated to appear, including Vince Neil of Motley Crue, Vinnie Paul of Pantera and Hellyeah and Phil Varone, reality TV star and drummer of Saigon Kick.  Las Vegas’ own Brazen, an award-winning, all-female rock cover band, will also entertain the Awards Show crowd throughout the evening.

The voting for the 2013 ED’s Awards will be held online only at TheEDawards.com from Thursday, June 20th, through Friday, July 12th.

To make sure that the show remains a slim, trim two-hour presentation (actual show: 9-11 p.m.), a select few awards have been moved to other events being held during the Expo (the same way the Oscars hold a prestigious awards event prior to the main Oscar presentation). During the Expo’s Opening Night “Game Show” Party at the Vegas Hustler Club, the following “staff” awards will be presented: General Manager of the Year, DJ of the Year (a new ED award for 2013) and Club Employee of the Year.  And at the Closing Night “Specialty Acts Showcase” Party at Sapphire in Vegas, the following “feature” awards will be presented: “Feature” Club of the Year, Adult Movie Feature Entertainer of the Year and the Miss ExoticDancer.com award.

A New York City native, Adam Hunter is one of the hottest young comedians today. Adam was a finalist on Season 6 of Last Comic Standing, has appeared on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show, Chelsea Lately, The Late Late Show, MTV, VH1, TruTV, CBS and Comedy Central. He is currently the host of the TV show Man Up Stand Up on MavTV and has appeared on Showtime’s Comic’s Unleashed and Loco Comedy Jam, and in sketches on Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Kimmel.
