Acclaimed sexual wellness authority and Wicked Pictures contract star jessica drake’s photo essay on CNN.com was declared “most popular photo blog of 2013” by the prominent news outlet. The profile, created by photographer Chris McPherson and journalist Abbey Goodman, follows the adult performer, filmmaker, and modern sex educator over three days in Los Angeles.

In the photo blog, drake discusses LA County’s controversial Measure B (also known as the County of Los Angeles Safer Sex In the Adult Film Industry Act), the adult industry, and her performance, educational, and volunteer work; the feature also takes a peek into her private life.

“I was so surprised and excited to learn my CNN photo blog ranked number one for 2013,” says drake. “Topping a list that includes many important societal concerns and well known celebrities further proves just how interested the general public is in sexuality and the adult film industry. Many people harbor preconceived ideas about what being an adult performer means, and that is exactly why it was important for me to do this project. drake makes a point of stressing condoms are not foolproof, and strongly disagrees with the Measure B legislation. “As a woman, I don’t like someone telling me what to do with my body, and as a performer, I feel very much the same way,” drake says in the interview.

Since 2004, drake has been a contract performer for Wicked Pictures, the only major adult entertainment studio to produce condoms-only content since 1999. Yet while Wicked Pictures’ in-house policy requires condom use, the company joined most of the adult industry in opposing Measure B.

Sexual wellness authority and sex educator jessica drake spoke yesterday at Chapman University as a guest lecturer for the Psychology 340: Human Sexuality class, taught by Assistant Professor David Frederick for the Crean School of Health and Life Sciences.

drake addressed a class of undergraduates on a variety of topics including sexual health, relationships, feminism, the adult industry, tolerance, boundaries and consent. On October 9, the top stars in adult entertainment gathered at Avalon in Hollywood for The Sex Awards, hosted by jessica drake, presented by HotMovies.com, and produced by X3Sixty Network and AVN Media Network. Fan-selection winners in 17 award categories were announced before an industry-only crowd of hundreds of performers, directors, producers, and media.

Over $20,000 was raised by TEAM WICKED for the 29th Annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles on October 13th. Led by Wicked Pictures performer and director jessica drake, and consisting of adult stars, industry members, and fans, TEAM WICKED completed the 10 kilometer fundraising walk through West Hollywood, CA in support of L.A. County AIDS Organizations.

Currently, TEAM WICKED includes 14 walkers, including adult performers Kaylani Lei, Dana DeArmond, Kylie Ireland, Steven St. Croix, and Brandy Aniston, as well as industry staff, family, and friends.

Some of TEAM WICKED’s members are offering donation incentives for fans and industry colleagues who participate in helping drake’s team raise funds; various donation levels will net a variety of different giveaways. In addition, higher-level donors of $500 or more will have the opportunity to participate in AIDS Walk LA as a member of TEAM WICKED.

AIDS Walk Los Angeles has drawn more than a half-million participants, who have collectively raised more than $72 million in its 27 years. The event, which has served as a model of grassroots fundraising and community activism for organizations across the United States, is sponsored by AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA). It is dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by HIV disease, reducing the incidence of HIV infection, and advocating for fair and effective HIV-related public policy. APLA provides care and HIV prevention services throughout Los Angeles. APLA extends to all areas in Los Angeles and has 9 food pantries, 2 dental clinics, a mobile dental van and much more.
