On October 9, the top stars in adult entertainment gathered at Avalon in Hollywood for The Sex Awards, hosted by jessica drake, presented by HotMovies.com, and produced by X3Sixty Network and AVN Media Network. Fan-selection winners in 17 award categories were announced before an industry-only crowd of hundreds of performers, directors, producers, and media.

Fans will have their opportunity to watch The Sex Awards in January 2014 when the inaugural event is broadcast on national television. It will be the first fan-choice award show for the adult industry to air and will include sexy, behind-the-scenes footage of the nominees, as well as an exciting reality show component.

The results included popular adult starlets Asa Akira and Riley Steele combining for five awards — Akira was voted Porn Star of the Year and half of Porn’s Perfect Girl/Girl Screen Couple (with Wicked Pictures’ jessica drake). The Asa Akira showcase, Asa Akira Is Insatiable 3 from Elegant Angel, received the Adult Movie of the Year award. Meanwhile, Steele earned Porn’s Best Body and Porn’s Perfect Boy/Girl Screen Couple (with Erik Everhard).

In addition to receiving her trophy for Porn Star of the Year, Akira was presented with an exquisite diamond bracelet from award sponsor Vivid Cabaret.

The glamorous evening also included a tribute to the legendary Ron Jeremy, who received the show’s first Lifetime Achievement award. Comedian Sam Tripoli, with the help of tourists and street performers on Hollywood Blvd., provided a mini-roast of Jeremy before the star came on stage to accept his award. Jeremy thanked the industry and his parents for instilling a hard work ethic in him regardless of what he chose to do in life.

Sexual wellness authority and Wicked Pictures contract star jessica drake was part of an interview discussing L.A. County’s controversial Measure B, also known as the Condoms-in-Porn Law, on CNN Saturday morning as part of the CNN Newsroom program. The CNN Newsroom interview aired Saturday, November 10 at 10:15 a.m. EST. CNN anchor Randi Kaye interviewed drake, as well as male performer James Deen.

“From the performer’s standpoint, and the standpoint of a woman, I don’t like the idea of being told what I have to do with my body,” drake said on CNN. “We are tested every 14 to 28 days as performers. We are tested for HIV, Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and I have been very comfortable with the testing protocols that we have had in effect.”

drake and Deen also described the misleading nature of Measure B. “On the ballot, it said ‘condom use,’ but then, later on, it says they can enforce the blood-borne pathogens law,” drake explained in the interview.

“It was a pleasure to represent our industry and Wicked Pictures to millions of CNN viewers who only see us performing, or don’t know us at all,” drake said. “We spent more than a decade developing a testing system to help keep our industry safe, and Measure B is a threat to our livelihood.”

Since 2004, drake has been a contract performer for Wicked Pictures, an adult-video company requiring condoms in intercourse scenes for more than 14 years. Hustler Video recently wrapped the final day of shooting for their upcoming 3D parody release, This Ain’t Ghostbusters XXX 3D. Filmed on set at the Hustler Video studios, this parody, brought to you by the people who did the This Ain’t Avatar XXX 3D parody, is sure to be an even bigger success than its AVN award winning predecessor.
